"I love the rich colour and texture of oil paint, especially the range of marks it allows. I typically begin with transparent washes and quick, gestural drawings in oil to establish the darks and lights, then build upon these with layers of colour and texture. This layering process feels like a non-verbal conversation between myself and the painting. In some works, I also overlay drawings created with oil paint sticks."
