I love the colour and texture of oil paint, especially the variety of marks you can make with oils, I always start with almost transparent washes and quick gestural drawings in oil to block in the darks and lights, then I overlay these drawings with colour and texture. I like to layer my paintings and I see this process as a non-verbal conversation between myself and the painting. Some of my paintings are overlaid with drawings made in oil paint sticks.
